Two more examples of how NOT to support a house!
Two more examples of how NOT to support a house!

We'll ignore the unsecured 14/2 Romex wiring that's photo-bombing the piers.  For now.  (How do I know it's 14/2 Romex, and what does that mean?  That's my job.)  Here are two more piers that, believe it or not, have the weight of a two and one-half story house sitting on them.  Yes, this is what they used!

Again, the seller's home inspector was unable to get into the crawlspace due to the size of the opening (about 15" x 24".)  I had no problem and spent nearly 45 minutes down there, documenting the numerous problems.  While I was there, the termite inspector showed up, took one look at the tiny opening, said "I can't get in there!" and left.  The moral of the story:  This house was absolutely gorgeous inside, but the crawlspace was truly a money pit.  I still feel bad for the sellers.
